Day × session heatmap

Visual matrix crossing day of week with market session. Each cell shows net P&L traded at that intersection.

The essentials

  • Strong green = your best intersection. Replicate those conditions when you can.
  • Persistent red = toxic intersection. Ask yourself why (high spread, doesn't match the volatility).
  • Useful pattern: "I'm good on Tuesdays in NY but bad on Fridays in London".

Sessions (UTC)

Asia
22:00–07:00 (Tokyo + Sydney + Frankfurt open). Low volatility, ranges.
Frankfurt
07:00–09:00. European open, first directional push of the day.
London
09:00–14:00. Max liquidity in majors, where EUR/GBP/USD moves.
New York
14:00–22:00. US open, max volatility. NFP/FOMC usually drop here.

Important

If you detect a systematically losing intersection (e.g. every Monday in Asia is red), consider not trading there. It's one of the most profitable insights the journal gives.
